Overview
Pokhara valley is one of the most picturesque destinations of Nepal. The beauty of Pokhara with the mountains so in the vicinity is enhanced by its lovely lakes, which have their source in the glacial region of the Annapurna range of the Himalayas. Situated 200 KM west of Kathmandu at an altitude of 827 meter from the sea-level, for the mountain viewers Pokhara offers a magnificent view of Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchchhre (Fishtail), five peaks of Annapurna and others. Pokhara is the only place in the world to provide such a dramatic views in a sub-tropical setting. Machhapuchchhre, for example, is only 28 km from Phewa Lake and not a single mountain range intervenes between the two.

Tibetan Refugee Camp: Tibetan Handicraft center know as the Tibetan refugee camp and also a pioneer of Tibetan carpet industry in Nepal provides job to Tibetans from the camp and local Nepalese. The profits of the handicraft center is used for the education, health care, sanitation, care for elderly and physically handicapped Tibetan people of this refugee camp.

Devi’s Fall: Locally known as the Patale Chhango (Hell’s Fall), Devi’s Fall (also known as Devin’s and David’s) is a lovely waterfall lying about 2km south-west of the Pokhara airport on the Siddhartha Highway. Legend has it that a trekker called David was washed away by the Pardi Khola and mysteriously disappeared into an underground passage beneath the fall.

Phewa Lake: Phewa Lake, the second largest lake in Nepal, is the center of all attraction in Pokhara. It has a beautiful view of the Fishtail mountain on one side, a lush forest hill on the other and then rows of restaurant where visitors chill on the way to or back from treks. You can sail or row a hired boat, visit the island temple in the middle of the lake. Or just walk along the boardwalk and browse through the restaurants and bazaars.

World Peace Pagoda: On the south west bank of Fewa Lake and on the top of a hill is the World Peace Stupa. It is a site worth visiting to get the best birdseye view of the valley. It is a short hike up from fewa. The one hour gentle trek to the top is also a best opportunity to experience local culture and tradition.
